One of the things I find most difficult to convey to all fan bases is just how different recruits perceive schools and certain situations compared to fans. Take, for example, a recruit visiting for a loss. Most fans think their team just tanked their recruitment of that prospect, but some of the most impactful game visits have come from losses. A recruit doesn't care who wins or loses one game. A loss only matter in so much as what it tells that individual about the future of the program - because that's what they will be involved with. And, many times it shows a recruit there is a need or an opening that they then feel they can fill.
In talking with four-star 2020 WR Ian Stewart this week about his recruitment we talked mostly about his recent offer from Ohio State, but I asked him about the recent visit to Michigan and he addressed this dynamic of growing up a fan and how that has changed since he became a recruit.
