Evenin' gents,

Just became a Rivals subscriber. Thought I'd take a few minutes and introduce myself:

Age/Occupation: 41 work at a large suburban high school

Favorite UM players (in order): 1: Desmond 2: Woodson 3: Kolesar 4: Tripp Welborne 5: Mike Hart

Disclaimer: I like JH more than any other them now, but as players the above list sticks.

First Game at UM Stadium: 1985 Michigan 47 Purdue 0 (2nd game was the upset to Minny the following year)

First UM game with wifey: UM v UVA...Mercury Hayes at the gun!!

Biggest UM gaffe: In '04 I sold my UM v MSU tickets to a co-worker days before the game. We had been to a couple of road games that year and I was tired and wanted to stay home. It's probably the only memorable game I've missed at UM the past 20 years.

Favorite UM game: '97 Ohio State for obvious reasons, but the '97 PSU game and '08 Outback Bowl stick out as two other favorites.

Worst UM loss: '05 Ohio State. I'll keep it quick....but to me that signaled the official "changing of the guard" in The Game. JT was suddenly 4-1 and we were headed to C-bus the following year. We did not play great, but lead late. I was livid. Disclaimer: I had no anger after MSU loss this year...just sadness. Deep, deep sadness. It felt different than any loss ever before. Not in a good or bad way. It was just a different.

Other CFB venues I've attended games: MSU, ND, Iowa, Indiana, NW, Wisky, Utah, Clemson, Purdue, Alabama (x3), Florida, Miss State, Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, Kentucky

Favorite non UM venue: ND Stadium. It drips with class and tradition. Regardless if you like ND it is hard not to respect their campus/stadium. I'm a sucker for nostalgia and the ND atmosphere delivers. I also think the "SEC stadium noise level" is a myth although the Bama campus is sweet.

Favorite road trip fans: Iowa
Least Favorite road trip fans: Wisky

Favorite CFB personalities: Pete Fuitak, Pat Forde, Jesse Palmer and Phil Steele.

Least Favorite CFB personalities: Mark May, Mark May and Mark May.

Weird things about my UM love:
- I loathe OSU so much that I refuse to draft Cleveland Browns in fantasy football, never pick mid-majors from Ohio in March Madness and hated, then liked and now hate Lebron. Also feverishly root against Indians and Blue Jackets. Will never, under any circumstance, own a red car or wear anything close to red/gray together. And I am still reluctant to embrace guys like Speilman or Nicklaus even though they appear to be class acts.

- I am kinda obsessed with our black cleats. In that I would be really bummed if we ever switched to white cleats. UM and USC are the only two teams I've never seen in any picture from any era wear white cleats. For some of you it is the color of maize we use, helmet stickers, etc. For me its the cleats. Have to have black cleats. I realize during the Hoke/RR era there were some players that wore cleats that had more white than black, but the team still had black. Anyway, I'll move on.

Pet Peeves from UM fans:
- When people ask if OSU or MSU is a bigger game. For me it will always be OSU regardless or anything. National and historic rivalry versus regional rivalry.
- When people spell Crisler wrong.

Favorite piece of UM memorabilia: Probably my ticket stub to the '69 game, but I have the complete Fab 5 starting lineup collection in my office. It is dear to me.

The University of Michigan: I went to GVSU. Older brother and both parents are UM grads. I would empty my savings account right now if it guaranteed one of my daughters were guaranteed acceptance to UM. It is a truly special place.

My take on "controversial" UM topics:

1. RR and Hoke: Never wanted RR and once predicted, "Hoke will will have a winning record against Urban." Regardless, I wish them both the best of luck moving forward. Sometimes you pick the wrong guy. I think both are good people.

2. Fab 5: Loved them, but I'll pass on re-hanging the banners. And I am admittedly stubborn in forgiving Webber. It's probably more me than him.

3. Durkin: I wish him the best and hold no grudges about leaving after a year. Great opportunity and massive pay raise. Plus, it helps build the JH coaching tree. Everyone wins.

4. Rooting for rivals in bowl games: I totally get the "Big 10 needs to be good argument." But I just cannot do it. Roll Tide and Go Irish!!

5. Jump Man: I was initially skeptical, but have gone all in since then.

6. Dantonio/Meyer: I have a lot of respect for Dantonio. I actually like him more than Izzo. I hate Meyer and and begrudgingly won't give him the respect he probably deserves.

7. Lloyd Carr: I've never bought into the LC undercut RR stuff. Obviously I don't know if it is true, but its hardly the reason RR did not succeed at UM. LC did a ton of good for UM. His post-game speech after his finale against UF remains the best locker room speech I've ever heard.

Anyway, this is getting too long. I view myself as very tolerant and open-minded. I look forward to sharing my opinions and respecting the opinions of others. Go Blue!
