He stated something to the point that NCAA referees favor smaller players and teams in their calls. Pearl honestly stated that they took advantage of this- The smaller players were not called for grabbing and pushing plyers much bigger than them, while throwing their bodies into the bigger defenders and getting calls...
I'm wondering why he is saying this when Pearl finally makes his key point: MSU has the best defense in the nation due to the fact that their ultra-aggressive but small perimeter defenders get away with more physicality than bigger players would...
This is a true statement, but it's always been that way. The refs waited for Shaq to get mugged before considering calling any contact on the defender..."He so big...".
But it puts a bug in the ears of the refs, and it may allow the calls to be more "even" in favor of the bigger team (Auburn).
It will be fun to watch.
