I talked to my son ( he is 20 ) and loves M football and also was really crushed after Saturday night . I actually said to him , " Sad to say maybe we over reacted when Jim took the job " . I was and still am sure he is the best man for us . He loves Michigan , and will bust his ass to get it right . I told my son , that back when I was his age every program went through what we are now , trying to get back to where Bo had us . In the 60's ( yes I am that old ) Darrell Royal had Texas at the top and it took years for that program to recover after he left . I remember after Ara left ND things got tough , after
John McKay left USC ,and John Robinson did as well tough times lasted for a while . Bob Devaney leaving Nebraska , Barry Switzer at Oklahoma , Jimmy Johnson at Miami , Steve Spurrier at Florida
Don James at Washington ALL those programs suffered through awful stretches . Ohio State after
Woody left did , until Urban arrived and even he was crucified by the media when Clemson crushed them .
I told Tommy that Dec 30th when JH took the job , that all was right in the world , MNC's and Big 10
Championships were right around the corner and the Bucks and Sparties were dead meat . Like ALL those programs above , we felt we were back . I believe we will be alot better program soon , but maybe it will take a few years longer than we want and expected . I get losing to Sparty was a crusher and Saturday night was as well , but also I said maybe MY frustration and aggravation
just created much more optimism than was warranted . Hell its not any guarentee JH WILL win as I had hoped , but I DO believe he is our best chance . Do I like how things are on offense ? No ..... or
his game plan ? No .....AND do I think we will have some more losses this seaon ? Yes......and am
I sure next year it all will change ? No ..... but I hope so . I feel bad for ALL of us ....... we so want this shit to end with losing to our rivals , but I for one am going to HOPE JH can do it , but NOT think that its a given ........it could be a while . I just hope not .......
