One helluva run to the title and having a great season. Definitely put another cling into the selection show, later today. You knew they'd make their run at W in the 2nd half. Total team victory...good luck w/ the selection and your Bowl. I, also, admit that I was wrong about PSU and Franklin 're: the program. Super run...WOW!

Thank you. Class post. BIG East is brutal. Still think the conference is unbalanced but I doubt it changes.
Best wishes in the playoff or bowl.

Thanks - just rolled back home after being in Indianapolis. I was also in Ann Arbor 71 days ago: the run PSU went on after that game I could have never imagined. Yet it did happen.

Lol...I don't think a lot of people saw that coming BUT in defense of that 49-10 eyesore, PSU had a JV defense because of the injuries and they suffered a couple more during the game, IIRC. The PSU defense doesn't really scare me but their offense has really came around. McSorely became a leader and playmaker...he was really impressive last night.
I got to be honest, I haven't seen PSU play too much this year because of attending our games. One thing that stands out with me is that PSU is a standout fanbase (though don't get me started on BWI, lol). Watching last night, seeing the pride and love they have for their school ,was pretty cool. I married into a family that has both, Pitt/PSU fans. My wife is from Uniontown...some of her family worked the mines, have had some great times on our visits, etc. Not to be a total "downer"...I'll never forget what happened there, it should never be forgotten.
It was really cool to see a once-proud program come back to life. They know what it is like to be in big games AND they have been a big-game program. Welcome back!

One thing I noticed at the time --- PSU didn't quit in the 2nd half of that 49-10 game. Seemed minor at the time, but showed the team at least liked each other (which was very evident in the 9 games to come). Attitude means more in the college game vs. the pros.

PSU does have a large and loyal fan base. I know this isn't necessarily a popular opinion, but I think all of PSU/OSU/U-M fans have more in common with each other than differences. We're all a bit tribal, but ultimately we all love college football and come from regions that are more provincial than most. (fact: if you rank all 50 states, PA, MI, and OH rank 2, 3, and 4 in terms of percentage of the current population that was born in that state. Louisiana is #1, FWIW).

A decent number of Michigan fans were in Indianapolis last night. I made a few jokes "did you guys get lost?", which they played along with. But it would be nice for the B1G Championship to become more of an event (like the b-ball tourney or the Frozen Four) where even neutral fans are willing to make a weekend of it. Indianapolis, the city, does a fairly good job with the event, and Lucas Oil is a great stadium.

F the majority of psu fans!! The majority of them still celebrate a coach who enabled a pedophile. They don't deserve anything.

I say just beat USC, and make the B1G look good. A win against usc would be a good win for psu and the conference , just like a win for UM against fsu.
Oh and good job winning the B1G or whatever.

Let me add my voice to the chorus of praise for PSU's accomplishment. The crap that went on in the administration and with former coaches has nothing to do with these players or current coaches or with fans who've admitted what a disaster that scandal was. I love having PSU in our conference for football (basketball is another deal altogether ;)) and love having them competitive again.

To be honest with you, I really wish they had displaced tUOS for the playoffs. tUOS limped out of the last two games with victories, both of which they could have easily lost and they obviously lost to the conference champion. I'm a firm believer in protecting the integrity of the championship for our conference meaning, unless there are extenuating circumstances, they should represent the conference in the playoffs. I get the counter arguments, I just want the damn championships to mean something, unlike in basketball where it only has bearing on seeding.

Congrats blue and white, a great accomplishment!

Blue,
I understand why you feel the way you do and this is a Michigan board so you have every right to state your opinion.
I would just say that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think you're smart enough to understand no one supports an enabler of a pedophile. I think we can all agree if someone knew kids were getting abused and protected the abuser - that person would be absolute scum.
That said I don't believe that's what Joe did. And I'm not going to rehash. It's just my opinion and like you - I have a right to it and it doesn't make me evil or you evil. I've followed this case as closely as anyone outside of perhaps the lawyers and I'm very comfortable in my beliefs. That said I get why you believe what you believe.
If I thought Joe knowingly enabled JS - he would be dead to me. We're all passionate about our football teams and schools but this would be a no brainer.
PSU folks have followed this case more closely than anyone. It's been a devestating experience. However, to call folks pedophile enablers or to blanket generalize folks as evil because they generally believe something different than you just seems wrong.
Remember something and I think we can all agree on this point - the media is absolutely worthless. Look at this past election. The liberal and conservative media are just out of control. They actively try and destroy the other side to win an election like it's a game.
Look at the catholic church. I have no problem admitting I'm still a proud catholic. That said I guess priests were molesting kids in parishes all over this country. Does that make catholics pedophile enablers because they still support the church and support priests.
My priest told me he blamed a lot of the church scandal on psychologists. He said a priest would be accused of abuse. The psychologists would recommend the priest (who normally denied the claims) go to counselling. The church would send the priest for counselling. After counselling the priest would be reassigned and guess what would happen again.
Anyway, I think casting people as evil because they believe differently than you is off-base especially when no one has any malicious intent.
Anyway, good luck in the bowl. I think FSU is in for a big surprise. The Michigan defense is nasty.
