Admittedly, the payout will never be quite that much. Barrett (the creep) is broke and he'll probably not even pay 1% of his $28MM. The Nashville Marriott will try to make their insurance company pay their $27MM share, and the insurance company will fight that tooth and nail. Probably ultimately settle for some fraction of that $27MM.

My understanding is that the guy found out where she was staying because of some registry. It was a mistake but 27 million against the hotel makes it seem like it was a crime against humanity.
What happens when the hotel kills a person for food poisoning....250 million?
What ticks me off is that juries just think...Oh, let's go hammer the entity with deep pockets or they just throw some huge number out there to make it seem like they are the guardians of truth and justice. I personally would be embarrassed if I awarded that kind of money.

She got the attention she is seeking. The same reason she dresses the way she does and does what she does for a living. Sure it was an invasion of her privacy and the hotel royally screwed up but she is NOT the poor little lamb that she portrayed herself to be. I love how she wore very little make up during the trial and looked like she probably does just hanging around the house.

I think the 'guy' got her info from a hotel registry? Make some adjustments but to give someone that kind of money is an abuse. Make the lawyers rich and just passes on the costs to the policyholders.

I think the rational way of interpreting Erin Andrew's motive is simply put she did out of revenge. I don't agree with the hotel being liable for what's happened unless there is clear evidence they were complicit in the criminal act by the stalker.

I like this point of view although I disagree. What this writer is saying is that someone who endures ridicule or laughter is somehow entitled to 'x' amount of money based on views or that a message to an industry is the right course of action.
This is a major problem in America. That somehow if you are victimized that you are entitled to gobs of money. Because people saw a lady nude or she has trust issues somehow entitles her to money sends the message that anyone who endures pain and suffering is given a check.
Welcome to life. I am all for the industry having the proper precautions but this victimization mindset in America is a bigger problem.
