some good baseball games being played in the College World Series.

First three games were all walk off winners.

If you have no dog in the fight, might I suggest Texas A&M as Ted Burton, starting at second base, is a former Michigan player. As good of a reason for me to root for them as any.

Only 6 teams left with two more being eliminated today. Gone are Virginia and NC State.

Tennessee and Texas AM are 2-0 and leading their side of the backets. Today's game are North Carolina vs Florida State and Kentucky vs Florida.

A couple interesting things about CWS. the first two CWS games ever played were in Kalamazoo before moving to Omaha. President George Bush played on Yale's team which participated in the championship.

The CWS generates between $7-$8M this year and none of the money goes back to the participating teams, al least not technically. The NCAA contract with ESPN covers the broadcast rights for the National Championships of other sports (lacrosse, hockey, baseball, wrestling, volleyball, water polo, etc) as well as football and basketball. So some of the money the schools receive from ESPN could be "considered" to cover other sports. The big beneficiary of the CWS is the City of Omaha.

There are a number of top MLB draft picks playing in these games. The CWS started with 4 teams from the ACC and 4 from the SEC after the Super Regional competition. Nebraska, Illinois and IU were the B1G teams eliminated in earlier play. WMU lost to Kentucky in the first round.

Last year LSU won the championship, and was led by Paul Skenes, who is currently a starting pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates and doing Ok so far.
