Winning P4 conference (and top G5 conference champ) is still an auto bid however, now they wouldn’t be auto-seeded. Teams would be seeded according to ranking.
Taking last year’s playoff, teams with the first round bye would’ve been 1. Oregon 2. Georgia 3. Texas 4. Penn State. Ohio State would’ve been 6 and hosted Arizona State, winner would face Texas.
Would love to hear what y’all think, personally I think this is a fantastic change and drastically improves the current format.
