Can't remember a more embarrassing loss.*

How about those Ellerbe era losses...like at home vs. MSU with 80

percent of Crisler as MSU fans :).

This team is a separate team in a separate year. This team was being played

equally by Detroit for the majority of the game.

NJIT is a decent team and a tough matchup for UM. They played well. Lynn was very good. UM (outside of LeVERT) wasn't shooting too well.

This was a non conference game that was ultimately very close. The MSU/Ellerbe game was a loss where 80% were MSU fans in Crisler arena and got blown out by 40 or so. That wasn't more embarrassing?

That's a stunner. We can all recall a lot of bad losses, but none so unexpected as this one. NJIT for god sakes..

Re: That is a better way to put it...how about a loss so unexpected...at home**

This is the BB team's Appy State moment.

Wow - just - wow.

Yeah...I thought about that but App State is a football game..

this is bball game where a guy gets hot and upsets are more frequent.

Just look at the history of college bball....some major David vs. Goliath upsets. Happens every year.

Charlotte beat UM last year. Back to this year...UM is ranked #17? or so...it's not like this team right now is the greatest team of all time. It has two prominent frosh as the #5 and the #4 positions. An off shooting game (check) against a team who is shooting well (check) and against a team with poor interior defense (check) can win.

Not a total shock. A very surprising loss but Syracuse choked the game against UM on some level. UM is built from the perimeter (outside in). It happens.

Kids didn't read scouting report, and the 8-0 opening run didn't

help to set the mind right. "74

Very bad but also not as bad in college basketball as football. UM has been

the best team in the Big Ten since late January of 2011...by far. If this isn't a big blip on the big radar but a coming trend, time to panic.

Otherwise, with what is again one of the top ten youngest teams in America for the third straight year, expect some major ups and downs, with a likely 20-10, 18-12 type record, including some nice wins and some crappy losses.

That is spot on. Great wins and some terrible losses coming this

year.

Spot on. Beat Syracuse and then lose to NJIT. It's what happens when of your main guys is 'off' and two main guys are frosh and one of them was pretty bad. It happens and it will happen again. Almost happened prior to this game...DETROIT.

I did not see the game, but wonder if NJIT was able to exploit some basic weakness that other teams can follow; or was it just a fluke: they got hot and Wolverines were not ready.

This is in no way good for Michigan basketball, even if the other team matched up well. Should be interesting going forward to see how the team responds.
