*** Michigan offensive line coach Sherrone Moore made it a point to head to Findlay (Ohio) High last week to see 2023 Rivals100 offensive lineman Luke Montgomery. Michigan is making Montgomery a top overall target for next cycle, and there is a feeling of optimism around Ann Arbor. Montgomery is a national recruit with offers from basically everyone, and Ohio State is considered the favorite. With that said, Montgomery has a great relationship with Moore and has been on campus on multiple occasions. He will be back in Ann Arbor for another visit next month when the Wolverines host OSU. Montgomery is planning to release a top group soon, and I fully expect U-M to make the cut.

*** With Ron Bellamy on staff, Michigan has made recruiting Louisiana a priority moving forward. Bellamy is well-connected throughout the Bayou State and can relate to kids there on a personal level. During his Louisiana swing last week, Bellamy made sure to stop by Baton Rouge (La.) Woodlawn to see 2023 Rivals100 cornerback Jordan Matthews, another top overall priority for next cycle. With LSU in a state of chaos, Bellamy and Michigan are taking full advantage by making big impressions on top underclassmen in Louisiana. The door is open to pull a kid or two from there next cycle. Expect Matthews to make his way to Michigan in the near future.

*** Before heading to Jacksonville last week, Michigan linebackers coach George Helow was in Pittsburgh to see 2023 Rivals100 linebacker Ta'Mere Robinson. Unfortunately, Robinson suffered a torn ACL during his Thursday game. It is unclear how the injury will affect his recruitment moving forward. Prior to it, Michigan was extremely high on Robinson, who has the Wolverines in his top group. He visited U-M over the summer and is looking to get back for the game against Ohio State. Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State are also high on his mind.

*** Very quickly, Michigan did not make the Top 5 for five-star Pickerington (Ohio) Central athlete Sonny Styles. He made a visit this summer but is an Ohio State legacy and has a brother at Notre Dame. Michigan was also excluded from the top group of Rivals100 Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips offensive lineman Payton Kirkland. This one was a bit of a surprise as Kirkland made an unofficial visit over the summer.
