I caught up with Christian Dixon, mother of Rivals250 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei wide receiver and Michigan commit Cristian Dixon, to get her thoughts on their recent self-guided visit to Michigan.
*** On her overall thoughts on the visit: "It was great. I enjoyed the visit. The state was very beautiful. I like greenery. I thought it was really nice. Everyone there was really nice. Going into different places like restaurants and stores, people were really friendly. I was wondering about the deers everywhere. Other than that, I liked Michigan. I had to go read up on those dead deers on the side of the road. My son and Xavier (Worthy) went to (Donovan Edwards') game. He came back and said 'we saw five or six deers on the side of the road.' I went out driving and saw the dead deers. I went and read all about the deers, who can claim them and how they can get their heads tested. It was interesting."
*** On the Michigan campus: "It was nice. It was pretty. We got to see the fall leaves. Whoever created it structure wise and the way they put it together, did an excellent job. Everything was cohesive and ran together. We got to walk around and see the buildings and how everything was positioned. The classes were close together. The business building was really, really awesome. The architecture in that is really great. I like the campus. I enjoyed every part of the trip. Even with the large campus, I understand why Michigan has the criteria it does. They really did consider the student in preparation."
*** On her biggest takeaway from the visit: "Just getting used to it and seeing how it was. I'm convinced Cristian will do great out there. My biggest concern was probably the weather. He was fine. He was walking around in a sweatshirt and sweatpants. As long as he's okay, I'm okay. It put me a little more at ease. I'm confident he's going to do great, but it does (put me at ease) getting to see the place he's going to. I was glad the off campus was really nice. With some of these colleges, when you go off campus, it's really bad. I was glad that Michigan held a certain standard. It made me feel more settled as a parent."
*** On spending time with Xavier Worthy and his family: "They're great. Cristian talks to Xavier all the time, so I jump in their conversations and watch their lives. He's a great kid. His mom was really nice, and they have a beautiful family. His sisters are really cute. I enjoyed their company. I'm glad they were out there and that we had time to hang."
