Here are tonight's Blue Chips...

*** Michigan made the Top 8 for Rivals250 Mobile (Ala.) Faith athlete Shemar James. This is a newer offer, so it's definitely a plus to see the Wolverines make the cut. U-M analyst Aashon Larkins has been helping lead the charge as Michigan is starting to make recruiting the state of Alabama a priority. Larkins has a lot of connections there from his stops in the Southern Conference. James is definitely intrigued by Michigan and wants to learn more moving forward. Of course, pulling James from the south is going to be extremely difficult. His list includes heavy hitters from the SEC like Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU. Right now, the safe bet is on him staying south, but Michigan will continue to work on him.

*** Michigan recently made the Top 11 for Rivals250 Duncanville (Texas) High offensive tackle Cameron Williams. I had a chance to see Williams live this fall, and he is a massive human being at 6-foot-6, 320 pounds. He's definitely a mauler and would be quite the addition for the Wolverines. Williams was keeping in contact with former offensive line coach Ed Warinner regularly. Sherrone Moore is sure to pick that up now that he's handling the position. Duncanville also happens to be in the Dallas-area, where new Co-DC Maurice Linguist has strong ties. Williams also works privately with former Michigan offensive lineman Logan Tuley-Tillman, so that helps, too. Right now, Williams seems pretty open, but Oklahoma may have the overall advantage.

*** Michigan made the Top 8 for Corbin (Ky.) High athlete Treyveon Longmire last month. This isn't a prospect that we've talked a lot about, so I wanted to bring him up since he somewhat recently named Michigan one of his finalists. Longmire was keeping in weekly contact with Bob Shoop before his dismissal. Michigan has undergone a couple of changes with its safeties coaches since then, so it's tough to really say where he stands on the board now. I do believe the Wolverines like him, but they'll have some ground to make up if they do decide to push. Right now, it seems like Longmire is leaning towards playing closer to home as Kentucky is the favorite.

*** Let's say happy trails. Five-star Galena Park (Texas) North Shore cornerback Denver Harris did not name Michigan in his final four. Michigan recently extended an offer to three-star Hallandale (Fla.) High safety Anthony Rose, but he did not name the Wolverines in his final three. Michigan also offered fellow three-star Hallandale (Fla.) High safety Jaylin Marshall, but he committed to Arizona State. Michigan is no longer in the mix for Rivals250 Omaha (Neb.) Burke linebacker Devon Jackson, who left U-M out of his Top 5. Four-star Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt Trussville wide receiver Omari Kelly did not name Michigan in his Top 8. Finally, ex-LSU commit and Rivals250 defensive back Bryan Allen did not name Michigan in his Top 7.
