Here are tonight's Blue Chips...

I spent some time in Dallas last week and caught up with Flower Mound (Texas) Coram Deo head coach Sean RIley to get his thoughts on four-star Michigan defensive tackle target Jadon Scarlett. Here are some highlights from our interview.

On his overall thoughts on Scarlett:

"Jadon is one of those kids that comes around every once in a while. He's always smiling. It's the offseason now, and he comes up to my office every single day. He doesn't want to talk about anything specific. He just wants to hang out and learn. As a player, his film tells the story. He can completely dominate a game. He can takeover. With the intangibles that he has, the sky is the limit for him. What I tell coaches that recruit him is that the film they see now is probably the worst film they'll ever see of him. And that's some pretty good film."

On Scarlett's biggest strengths as a player:

"He is a true nightmare for interior offensive linemen. The speed he has off the line is natural. Along with the coaching that he has from his dad (Coram Deo's defensive line coach), he has the speed. How do you stop that? Even at the next level when he puts on 10-15 pounds, and he plays at 280, I don't think it's going to slow him down a bit. He has so much room to add weight."

On an NFL comparison for Scarlett:

"I hate to compare high school kids to NFL guys. I don't think it's fair to him. But if you think about interior defensive linemen in the NFL that are so fast off the ball and wreck havoc, that's him."

On Scarlett's recruiting process:

"The biggest thing I tell him is to get to know college football. All these schools that are going to recruit you assume that you know who they are. Jadon is new to football. He's only been playing a couple of years. Also, just treating every school like it's his No. 1 choice. He doesn't know where he wants to go. As a high school kid, it's important for him to enjoy the process and make his decision after visits."

On Michigan's pursuit of Scarlett:

"It would be amazing for him to play in an atmosphere like Michigan's and walk out of that tunnel. When fans are allowed back in full force, he would see 100,00-plus. The talent level that he goes against in his weekend training would be similar to what he goes against in the Big Ten. Michigan, in my opinion, is the type of school kids want to go to. They want that atmosphere, they want to know that their degree means something and they want to know they're around people that can get them where they want to go."

On Michigan recruiting the state of Texas:

"I've said this before. Coaches up North are missing out by not coming to Texas consistently. Not every kid wants to play in Texas, the Big 12 or the geographical region. Some of them want to go away and be wrapped in the nostalgia of schools that aren't around them. That's where schools up North are missing out by not really digging down here. Texas, as everyone knows, is loaded with talent. I think Michigan can definitely come down here and land guys."
