Here are tonight's Blue Chips....
*** Rivals100 Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian's tight end and Michigan commit Louis Hansen made a self-guided visit to Michigan over the weekend. This was Hansen's first time back in Ann Arbor since the Big House BBQ last summer. On that trip, Hansen and his father flew in and out the same day. This weekend gave Hansen a chance to spend more time around campus. While all the buildings were closed, Hansen did walk around campus and got a better feel for his future home. He also had a chance to do some shopping at M Den, eat at the Brown Jug and just get a vibe for the city. This was also the first time Hansen's mother got a look at everything around Michigan.
*** Due to the ongoing dead period, Hansen obviously did not get a chance to meet with the staff. However, Michigan tight ends coach Sherrone Moore is set to get on the phone with the Hansen family tonight to talk about the visit and some general things. Michigan freshman offensive lineman and New England native Zak Zinter made it a point to call Hansen before he left Ann Arbor, and I'm told that conversation really impressed the Hansen family. Zinter pitched Hansen on the academic opportunities and assured him that brighter days are ahead for the team. Zinter is proving to be a great player and ambassador for the program early on in his career.
*** Overall, Hansen didn't get the full visit experience but he did at least get another look at Michigan before the early signing period. And that's good news because other schools haven't stopped recruiting Hansen. As I've mentioned before, Boston College is continuing to pursue Hansen with head coach Jeff Hafley doing everything he can to lure him away. BC is arguably making the strongest push, but Notre Dame recently reached out, and a program like Duke would love to have him. Still, Hansen is happy with his Michigan commitment. He loves what the program has to offer.
