Here are tonight's Blue Chips...
*** One of the more interesting recruitments to follow this cycle has been that of four-star Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic defensive back Jaeden Gould. The new Michigan defensive staff has been hot and cold on Gould over the last several months, but it appears the Wolverines are growing warmer with Gould. While he's a talented prospect, injury concerns have caused his stock to dip a bit. It's the same reason Penn State, which had him on campus for a self-guided tour this month, is also in the same boat as U-M. But again, it looks like Michigan is picking things back up with Gould. He is scheduled to make his way to Michigan for an official visit on June 18. Gould will also see USC and Penn State to kick off the summer. Overall, I still feel like Gould ends up in the class as long as Michigan wants him. He's been a U-M lean for a while, and the Wolverines are getting the final OV as his schedule stands right now. Look for him to make a decision following his June trips.
*** All has been quiet in the recruitment of four-star Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood cornerback Myles Pollard. While some believe that's because Oklahoma is making a strong run, well, you're half right. Yes, the Sooners have become a huge threat to Michigan, but Pollard is also focusing on his spring practices right now as he gears up for his June official visits. After talking to some sources around Pollard's recruitment today, I feel more at ease with my Michigan pick. Again, OU remains a big threat, but I still have reason to believe U-M leads. Pollard will also officially visit Auburn and is trying to work out something with Washington. His plan is to pull the trigger in July. I should have more in-depth notes on Pollard soon.
*** Three-star Buford (Ga.) High athlete Jake Pope is becoming more and more of a priority for Michigan at the safety position. As I reported a couple of weeks ago, Michigan safeties coach Ron Bellamy had a big Zoom call with Pope and has been leading the way in this recruitment. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has also taken a personal interest here and was just on the phone with Pope this week. Still, Pope is going to be tough for the Wolverines to win over. He already has official visits set with Alabama, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State. Michigan is doing everything it can to make a run and get his final trip or even an unofficial. He wants to decide before the end of summer.
*** Michigan is really fading away in the recruitment of Beaumont (Texas) West Brook safety Bryce Anderson. The former LSU commit told me earlier this month that Michigan was in the running to receive an official visit. Now, it appears unlikely. He has official visits set to Texas A&M and USC and wants to take one to Alabama. Texas is still considered the favorite to land him, and LSU is doing its best to get him back on the field. At this point, it's unlikely that Anderson leaves the south even if Maurice Linguist is able to convince him to make his way to Ann Arbor for a visit.
