I recently caught up with Mark Denegal, father of Michigan quarterback commit Jayden Denegal, to get his thoughts on the program and more.

Here are some highlights from the interview.

On why Michigan is the right place for the Denegal family:

"What stood out to me was the personal attention they gave him. They believe in football, but they also believe in school. They talked a lot about graduation and what the school can offer. It was more than just football. The personal attention they gave him was big. They made him No. 1. They made him the guy. We went to a lot of colleges, where it was good, but he was the second or third guy. Michigan said 'you are our guy.' For me, that was perfect."

On their recent official visit:

"A lot of our visit was based on academics, his betterment and his success. We understand we have to win, but it was clear they had an interest in him being successful."

On the Michigan coaching staff:

"I love the coaching staff. They gave him so much attention and made him a priority. From Coach (Jim) Harbaugh to Coach (Matt) Weiss to Coach (Sherrone) Moore to Coach (Josh) Gattis to Courtney Morgan, they made him feel like a priority. They also made me feel like they would take care of him."

On new Director of Player Personnel Courtney Morgan:

"With Courtney being from Los Angeles, it was an extra bonus. He understands where we come from. He's going to take care of Jayden. That's big. We were already sold on Michigan. Jayden was completely sold. But when we talked to Courtney, I got to know him personally. He told me he's going to treat him like his own and make sure he's successful at Michigan. He' said he'll be successful if he puts in the work."
