Here are tonight's Blue Chips...
*** All has been quiet on the Donovan Edwards front, and that's likely what it's going to be like until the dead period comes to an end, and he can make visits. Michigan is still maintaining regular contact with Edwards, and U-M head coach Jim Harbaugh jumped on another video chat with him a few days ago. I still feel good about my FutureCast pick for the Wolverines. I've actually never wavered from it even when Ohio State was pushing. Georgia already has a back in this class (they do want two). Texas A&M was making a run, but LJ Johnson is likely to land there. I'm not afraid of Notre Dame. Oklahoma and Texas seem more focused on Camar Wheaton. Again, U-M just makes the most sense.
*** Even if Edwards does end up at U-M, the Wolverines may take two backs this cycle. A guy I'm told that is moving up the recruiting board is three-star 2021 Austin (Texas) Del Valle running back Tavierre Dunlap. Michigan offered Dunlap not too long ago, and he has been in contact with running backs coach Jay Harbaugh. The major programs in the Lone Star State haven't offered him, and it appears that he's open to going out of region. If Michigan pushes, this one could get interesting.
*** Michigan would love to land three-star 2021 Tulsa (Okla.) Union running back AJ Green, but I'm told he's likely to stay closer to home. Right now, Arkansas seems to have the inside track here, and Oklahoma State is probably second. Oklahoma likes him at corner and really isn't pushing at this time. At best, I would say Michigan is third. This a guy the Wolverines need to get to campus to create positive movement. He is from the same city as Dax Hill and has expressed legit interest in the Wolverines, but this is a recruitment where the pandemic has been a negative for U-M.
*** A prospect that has't even been acknowledged in Michigan recruiting circles is rising 2021 Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz running back Quandarius Smith. His Michigan offer from last month is legit, and he's a guy the Wolverines are keeping warm. While he may not exactly be a take this second, Smith is definitely a prospect worth monitoring as the Wolverines continue to evaluate their RB2 options. His only other offers are Georgia State and Kentucky.
