I think we can all agree that the basketball team has surpassed expectations so far this year. Not just in being undefeated, but in some of the huge beat downs that they have put on ranked teams. This got me to thinking, what player or aspect of this team has been the biggest positive surprise so far?
I haven't seen it talked about a lot, but for me the biggest surprise has been what a great passing team this has been. Coming into the season, Simpson was really the only player that had proven to be a "+" player when it came to passing/court vision. But this year, both Poole and Matthews have made significant improvements in their abilities to find the open man (i.e. lobs to Teske). And while they haven't had as much opportunity, Livers, Brooks and Teske have had a few really nice assists as well. I would say Iggy is still developing that part of his game, but he's had a couple of decent passes in there.
While it's still early in the season, I think it's possible that this could be the best passing team in the Beilein era.
How about the rest of you? What has surprised you most with the Wolverine dominance?
