There are obviously many movies with great individual performances. However there are two movies I can think of that I would consider average movies where one performance raises them to a completely new height… At least in my mind. The first is tombstone and Val Kilmer, the second is gangs of New York and Daniel Day-Lewis. Bill the Butcher has to be one of my favorite movie characters ever.
