How can Urban’s confession be accepted by anybody as anything other than a desperate effort to construct a plausible explanation for not an honest error, or a moment of poor judgement but rather an explanation for first a blatant lie about his awareness of harboring a spousal abuser but also the demeaning of the investigative journalist that gave visibility to the coverup! This was not a “ mistake” by a well meaning spokesman for a great university. It was a strategic lie based on a belief that the charges he was dismissive of could be passed off as unfounded gossip.
If you are caught constructing a lie on national television it is difficult to sell your self as one who believes in integrity and walks the talk on all the lofty principles he preaches to his staff and players.
