Momentum is so huge for a college football program, and given the momentum we have with Harbaugh , the importance of showing an improvement in the win total cannot be understated.
The positive effects of a 9-10 win season on recruiting would be huge!
No matter how much the rest of the team improves this year, if we won 6-8 games, even due to horrible QB play, you know how the other schools would use it as a negative recruiting tool...and the Harbaugh is never going to stay in college, etc.
