As you all are well aware, the Bryce hype is at full blast very early into spring camp. You've seen our intel posts for the last month or so, and a lot of the information is starting to get very public now as more and more practice observers are spreading the word about what they are seeing.
Some rumors are also starting to spread regarding the rest of the quarterback room.
We knew that, coming into the season, Davis Warren would not be able to practice until the fall as he was recovering from a torn ACL at the end of the bowl game against Alabama. While many thought Jadyn Davis was a likely candidate to enter the transfer portal, so far, he has embraced the reality of Bryce Underwood and taken huge strides this offseason. According to a source, his attitude and work ethic are great, and he has a great bond with Bryce.
Of course, the QB battle we expected was between Bryce and Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene. Word is getting out that Keene has not practiced so far this spring. Pair that with the Bryce hype, and well, you can see where the rumors are going. As par for the course with how Josh likes to run this site, I am not going to get into injury specifics because it is not our place. I have not spoken to Mikey, and I have not talked to anyone close enough to him to feel comfortable saying where his head space is right now. Those rumors include that Keene would enter the transfer portal in the spring. Again, I think Keene knew what he was facing with Underwood coming here, but I don't know if it is more important to him to be at Michigan and set himself up for a path into coaching moving forward or if he is dead set on playing in his last season. It would be speculating or assuming either way.
It's too early to draw any conclusions, but I received a couple of DMs about this, so I figured I'd post what I know and what I can.
