Her name is Brandi. She was born on May 18, 2001 and we picked her up from the Southern California breedeer over the Fourth of July weekend. We had the first pick from the litter and we were very lucky. It is hard to believe, but she was born just before my Mom passed away on 9/10 and just before the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in NY, that same year.

Brandi spent her first 12 years, as her breeding predicted, being a phenomenal athlete, swimmer, diver and retriever. There was just no quit in this dog. We had a birthday party each year for her seven offspring beginning in 2005. There were two males, Charlie and Joe, and five females, Maizey, Rosie, Daisey, Mandy and Snow White. Their athletic Mom never let them win any retrieving of tennis balls, diving or swimming contests in our pool. All of her offspring came to the first birthday and most of them for subsequent years. She has already outlived her two males and two females. Three of her female puppies are still 14 and still living. That is really good for large breed dogs.

For the last five or six years Brandi has lived a less active life, but still has a lot of fun and a strong will to live. While she never wanted to cuddle during her athletic years, that has been her favorite thing the last few years, She also sleeps about 18-20 hours a day. He appetite is much less.

All is well and we hope for another year for Brandi. We have already been so blessed. Go Blue and Brandi!
