The big question surrounding the Michigan hockey program outside of how far this team can go in the NCAA Tournament is the status of Brendan Naurato and the interim tag that he has as head coach.

I did some asking around about the expectations for what's next and the answer shouldn't really surprise anyone.

We are told that Warde Manuel will work quickly once the hockey season is over, whenever that is, to offer Naurato a "nice" (source's language) contract to make him the permanent head coach. Naurato loves it in Ann Arbor, the team loves him and those in the athletic department could not be more pleased with the way he's handled everything and has won with this program. He will, obviously, accept the position as permanent head coach.

To say that this contract is well-deserved would be an undersell of the century.

He is an ace recruiter, he was under the previous staff, too. So he will continue on the winning legacy of the hockey program into the future.

So, have no fear, things are in motion, it all just has to happen after the season to avoid the obvious distractions.
