Mine wasn't so nice and I'm now finally able to get over the trauma to post this...
I was at a rather nice old-timey French restaurant with family a few weeks ago. Our younger cousins were feeling giddy after a day of wine tasting in the Sonoma Valley, and ordered escargot, which I've had before, but they had not.
So Mr. Big Shot here decided to one up them and ordered "sweetbreads" in a cream sauce. Sweetbreads are considered "offal" (no pun intended) which can be any variety of organ meats. My happened to be thymus or neck sweetbread.
It was kinda chewy, but I finished my plate...to my detriment.
Spent the next day on the john with my head in the garbage pail.
