I can’t find the words to describe the lefts and rights of this coaching search.
Last week, I sat on info that I didn’t feel was relevant enough to report, and both turned out to be true.
When I caught wind of the buzz surrounding Virginia assistant coach Kevin McMullan, I quickly got some confirmations and brought it to the board.
Shortly after we broke he was a candidate for the job, he soon became a favorite.
Earlier today, that same source who passed along that McMullan was in the race confirmed to me that he’s out of it.
One theory is that he may be a primary candidate for Notre Dame, where he has a plethora of roots & connections.
Jordan Bischel, Karl Nonnemaker, and Michael Brdar remain candidates, I’m told.
Brdar has yet to announce himself or through the Padres that he’s staying in San Diego.
Notre Dame remains vacant and may be directly affecting the Michigan search, at least in its timing.
I’ll have a column out tomorrow AM on this disastrous timeline.
