Ranking of the best overall athletic programs in college. It's a weird metric that differs from the other rankings for best athletic department as it puts extra weight on CFB, and men's and women's college basketball. Then it provides a ranking of two wild card sports from the remaining, and that's how it's all added up.

I just thought this section was a kick in the junk:

Two other programs, Michigan and UCLA, also had tremendous seasons across the board but received zero points in football. Michigan could have won the award with a top five finish in football and would have been named runner-up if it had simply made a bowl game.
