I know how popular it is to make noise around the Fourth of July with firecrackers and fireworks, but my collie has a horrible anxiety disorder and thunder and loud rain storms as well as firecrackers and fireworks make him absolutely petrified, terrified and pretty much incapacitated. He is on Xanax for the holiday right now and it absolutely kills me that I have to either try to knock him out or try to ride the wave of idiocy that is firecrackers. I’m not talking about kids with their sparklers or even kids with firecrackers. These are grown people, usually men, who shoot these things off in our neighborhood for about a week straight before, during and after the Fourth of July. Maybe you guys could tell me what’s so exciting about this, and I don’t mean to be a downer, but if you could see my poor dog perhaps you’d understand why I feel this way. Anyway, happy Fourth of July everyone.
