So now we will see how fast Michigan is out of the gates in terms of their kids landing NIL deals. I heard that they had been working on a timeline targeting end of December 2021 as this is when Michigan law would go into place. If so, stupid, stupid, stupid. It has been clear for some time that the NCAA would act to ensure all teams were on equal ground come July 1.

So two key points:

1. As noted, how fast will we be out of the gates. Will know very very soon as deals are already being announced. The sooner the better in terms of a recruiting tool with hard cash evidence as opposed to theoretical smoke and mirrors. Please note Blake Corum among the athletes in one of the tweets below!

2. Long-term impact when it comes to Michigan. Obviously, near the top of the heap in terms of being a national brand. However, boosters in the south are more fanatic about making sure their kids are paid. If they can do it legally, they will. How deep are their pockets? Deeper than the actual NIL market value of, say, a five star recruit?

On another note, the NCAA waits until literally the last hour to approve NIL. Talk about the reluctant overseer!
