Went out to Cass Tech High in Detroit today to get an update on Jalen Thompson. It was my first time speaking with him since the Under Armour Camp in Ohio. Around then, he was coming off an unofficial visit to Michigan and had a top 10 in mind with the Wolverines included.

Right now, it’s not looking good for Michigan. During the spring eval period, USC, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Pitt, and Penn State have come to see him. Steve Clinkscale was also at the school a couple of weeks ago. But the Wolverines are on the outside looking in to receive an official visit.

Thompson is shortening his list with the aforementioned schools, along with Kentucky. He won’t be announcing it on social media it seems like. Communication with Mike Elston has been here-and-there, nothing compared to what others have done with him.

The four-star lineman wasn’t as high on the boards compared to other high priorities and he’ll now look elsewhere.

The biggest reason for this is Shaun Nua departing this offseason. Nua and Thompson had a great relationship while the former was at Michigan and has carried over to Nua now at USC.
