Can the offensive outbreak of last Saturday against Penn State be continued? Has the Nagelvoort of 2013-14 returned?

Pre-game note

Yes, that's Lou Nanne! For those of us who've been around this game for awhile, the name Lou Nanne holds great meaning.

RPI's freshman Lou Nanne, who leads the team in goals and points to date this season, is the grandson of his namesake, Lou Nanne, who served as player, coach and general manager for the now-defunct NHL Minnesota North Stars.

Re: Pre-game note

The existence of the Stars and the Wild make them defunct in my book, even though the Stars are technically the same, relocated franchise.

OMG there will be an actual Spath sighting at the game tonight*

. . . which is good news :)

RPI's top goalie Jason kasdorf injured himself in Tuesday's game against UNH and is out tonight. He's an elite goalie, But Diebold the backup is very good as well.

First period summary Michigan 1-0

Evenly played period. Michigan probably lucky to get out with a one-goal lead.

Best scoring chance of the period happened at the 15 minute mark when RPI's Michael Prapavessis missed a wide open Michigan net from only 10 feet out.

Michigan scored only a minute later on Dylan Larkin's feed to Alex Kile. Kile did NOT miss the open net.

Re: First period summary Michigan 1-0

I think that when we fail to miss an open net, it's big news!

Second period summary, still 1-1

Edge in play advantage to RPI. They were much better in their defensive zone than Michigan.

Lots of missed nets on Michigan shots.

RPI converted their power play chance and Michigan didn't convert theirs.

Anyone's game in the third period.

Well how about that!

We come to life in the last 4 minutes, score 2 goals and win 3-2.

Must be "the Spath Effect . . . "

Re: Late goals by Motte and Hyman win it, 3-2*

In the post-game radio show, Bill Trainor said that late in the third period, the Wolverines "finally came out of their Thanksgiving food coma." Hah!

Re: Late goals by Motte and Hyman win it, 3-2*

IMO, Michigan played a better game last Friday when so many freaked out about the loss to Penn State. This RPI team played well. Michigan will have to play better tomorrow night to win.
