initially, we posted they will re-vote Friday or Saturday to start the season later this fall, as soon as Oct. 10. That's similar to something we heard third-hand this morning, but we didn't believe it.

We don't know whether or not they'd have the votes ... six Presidents would have to change their minds. But we are doing some more digging this evening. We can NOT confirm at this time that there will be another vote, but we'll see what we can find out.

UPDATED ...

We've heard from great sources a "behind the scenes" vote is taking place to see if they have enough presidents on board to overturn the 11-3 vote (remember, Ohio State, Iowa and Nebraska were the only three whose presidents voted to play the first time around). If there's enough support, it will go to a an actual vote Friday ... so if there is a vote, it means camp starts Saturday.

One Michigan source, in fact, told someone we know it's "60-40" they'll be practicing this weekend. That could just be optimism based on how badly they want to play, but we trust that was said.

It sounds as though there are a few teams that just don't want to play, so you could be looking at anywhere from 10 to 14 teams participating. But October is a possibility.

We'll see what happens. Stay tuned ...
