Insider Quick note on Jaden Mangham

The Michigan State transfer is set to visit this weekend after making both Ohio State and Nebraska visits.

Was told by someone on the Nebraska side of things that the buzz is relatively low right now and that education was discussed throughout both of his visits to Nebraska and OSU.

Was also told that the buzz was very “pro-Michigan” right now but I’ve been around the block a few times and are well aware of how much things can change lol

If education is part of the deal, I think you have to feel pretty good about where things stand right now if you’re Michigan.

Not going to sit here and say it’s for sure going to get done this weekend but I think Michigan is going to head into this weekend with a lot of confidence that they’ll have a strong visit.

We’ll see what happens.

OT: Took Pops to the ER after he had an irregular EKG..

at his Cardiologist’s this morning after weeks of begging him to go after he complained of pain in his chest, and woke up with a heavy feeling in his chest this morning. I had to threaten him that he had 2 choices: he could either go willingly or I would allow myself to reach the point where I premeditatedly put myself between my executive brain and my dissociative state. In this altered state I have superhuman strength and can’t feel pain, like a cornered animal fights, or those moms in tabloid stories of them lifting cars off their babies that are absolutely true. Back in the day, the specialists in the field used to call it “The Hulk Syndrome”, but dropped that cavalier moniker a few years later as they learned more about how serious the disorder is, and the name was offensive to those of us who try to survive living with this curse. Pops has witnessed this transformation many times and knew I was serious reaching that state and picking him up and forcing him to go. He chose wisely and let me take him to the ER.

I’ve made no bones here about the fact I’ve been an atheist since my early teens. But today I asked the Catholic god to make sure Pops is ok. Additionally, I asked a few other favorite gods and goddesses from the 16,000 organized religions we have discovered exist or existed in human history for the same.

So I’m asking Den members, to whichever god you pray to, keep my Pops in your thoughts today. I get a feeling about these things, and like my mother and 2 uncles who faced long odds in similar instances, I have the feeling that he’s gonna be ok. I just want to cover all possible bases.

I appreciate it. They say there are no atheists in foxholes. Well in my case, it’s not a lack of courage or fear of death in my foxhole, it’s just being prudent due to the fact that god is unknowable, and I’m using the scientific method applied to the anti science of beliefs in the supernatural.

Thank you - Todd

Those Damned ‘Domers...

...are strutting over Brian Kelly’s third undefeated regular season, the second perfect regular season in the last three in his eleven-year career as the Irish head coach Plus they will likely be selected for the playoffs for the second time since a Committee has selected the semi finalists. They go on to pat themselves on the back for achieving those accomplishments with recruiting classes seldom as good as Michigan’s, paying Kelly less than a quarter of what we pay Harbaugh, and with a first-year offensive coordinator and a third-year defensive coordinator, both in their first jobs as coordinators.

What can we say other than to agree that Brian Kelly is one of the best college head coaches in the country. He clearly has a system and set of program values that have proven repeatable and engender great loyalty of his players to Notre Dame and to each other. The frequency of players who choose to leave early for the NFL or transfer is admirable.

Those who stay will be champions used to be a Michigan saying, but not any more. Too bad. That seems so fundamental to the creation of a top program. Thinking about it, not many players leave early from Alabama or Clemson either.

Man the hate…

It’s amazing living in this age where media now directs things to us that it predicts will stoke our emotion and engagement.

Evidently being a Michigan fan gets me gobs of hate on X. It’s remarkable people think the way they do let alone put it out there for consumption. The anger that something like Dono getting a cover elicits - wow.

I thought the investment in JJ not being drafted high was bizarre.

People are sick. If I ever show signs of that - someone beat me - please.

I Thought I’d Share…

… my response to a former ‘Domer colleague who sent me yet another ‘Domer-centric article describing how they would thrive with continued independence.

“Another article from a Notre Dame-centric publication, I’m sure.

Let’s get something straight. My feelings regarding the Big Ten considering Notre Dame for membership are just as strong as yours desiring continued independence in football.. I definitely DO NOT want Notre Dame as a member of the Big Ten Conference!

I can think of no particular benefit athletically, academically or financially to your membership. The conference can do much better by creating a membership of strong, mutually-supportive, intersectional universities that are more than a small, religious-based, liberal arts college in an Indiana cornfield.

Actually, I would prefer that the Big Ten simply cooperate with your desires for independence and take Notre Dame off our schedules in all sports altogether.

If the realignment of college sports develops as I believe it will, my desire will be satisfied. I will take great pleasure in watching your athletic programs wither financially and competitively.

Bo Schembechler said it best when the subject of your membership in the Big Ten came up on his watch..,.

“To Hell with Notre Dame!”
