I have to admit that I am "snookered" regarding this young man. He is, in a word, an 'enigma' to me. Asking The Fort to help me understand this guy and I suppose WHY he is (pretty much) in the proverbial shadows. BTW, I understand very, very well that this is NOT neighborhood pee-wee football where there is a written or unwritten rule that EVERYONE plays about the SAME amount of time in the game.Background: (to my understanding) is that Gentry is a fairly honest 6'7" (freaky tall); regularly described as 'extremely athletic'; various quoted 40 times (no surprise there !), but I have seen 4.58-4.6; (okay, if accurate or even close to accurate, this is darn freaky);
So, maybe he misses on the intangibles??, or (a) he does not like to or cannot block, and/or (b) he has truly lousy hands; and/or (c) he is a lousy 'route runner'??
Please weigh in on this young man. Based on the early/aforementioned athletic attributes, it just seems like a bummer that Gentry cannot "break out."
Again, I get that there are a lot of football players every day that "fail" based on a-b-c factors. I suppose that I just do not understand what issues are keeping him from moving up the TE list (given some of those freaky stats).
Thoughts? Please do not respond generically or theoretically. I would like to know what is going on with one Zach Gentry.
