Kirk Campbell.
He came into a tough spot as a recruiter. Jim Harbaugh fought off the latest round of NFL rumors, Matt Weiss departed in a weird fashion and the Jadyn Davis family was left a little suspect and spooked about what was happening. Jim Harbaugh did a lot of calm those fears, of course, but Kirk Campbell put in his own work and has been nothing short of impressive ever since. Whoever Harbaugh decided to choose for the QB coach role was going to be extremely important as to where this thing was going to go with Davis and Campbell checked every box, answered every question and has done all the right things getting this where it is today. Kudos to him. I don't envy the position he walked into but he sure as hell earned his due.
It doesn't start and stop with Davis either. He's gotten the Wolverines into the conversation with Bryce Underwood (though this one is still an uphill battle that is out of Michigan's control) and continues to do great things with Ryan Montgomery and, I have no doubt, Cutter Boley this weekend, too.
While we are quick to criticize coaches for what they can or can't do on the trail, credit is deserved where it's due. In this case, Campbell has certainly earned it.
EXCELLENT addition to the staff. That's not even factoring in the current players on the team who absolutely love him, with JJ McCarthy leading the way there.
