This Harbaugh guy just doesn't seem to get the history of the program, and it shows with his teams. A guy who understood the Michigan Football Program would not have the following issues:
1. He would be beating MSU pretty much 3 out of every 4 years (or better), as we have through much of their history. We OWN the State of Michigan, and losing to them only allows breath to enter their program.
2. He would be splitting the OSU games pretty much 50-50. Bo was 5-4-1 against Woody. Lloyd consistently beat higher ranked OSU teams. But 0-5? 0-6? No true Michigan Man would suffer this indignity.
3. He would understand that Michigan teams have an IDENTITY...one that often reflects their coaches. "Hurry Up" Yost had his Point-a-Minute teams. Offensive juggernauts. Bo had good-to-great defenses most every season, and a crushing ground game as well.
4. His teams would pay attention to DETAIL. Few mental mistakes. Few penalties. And few SLOPPY plays like dropped passes, poor routes, missed tackles. A Michigan Man as coach would tighten that crap up.
5. His teams would play with passion and energy, not look like "Thank You Sir, May I Have Another?" Kevin Bacon from Animal House.
6. His teams would NOT lose important games to the likes of Indiana, Iowa, etc.
7. He would UNDERSTAND that tradition matters at a place like Michigan, perhaps moreso than most other schools. For instance, he wouldn't screw around with the Michigan uniform by making the team look like Good Humor Men for their road games (Maize pants all the way).
8. He would have stability on his coaching staff, not a rotating group where we need a scorecard every Spring to figure out who the new fellas are.
9. He would DEMAND the best performances from his players, and bench those who under-perform. He wouldn't care if it was his star QB with a bad case of "fumblitis", or a Team Captain who wanted to "opt out" of the Bowl game.
10. He would not allow back to back poor performances by his teams. Heads would roll.
11. He wouldn't allow the cupboard to consistently be bare of talent.
12. HE would be a force to be reckoned with on and off the field...an innovator, a leader, an encourager.
I don't know where this Harbaugh fella came from, but someone needs to school him on Michigan football!!
