I think Smith is still way to slow although if a huge hole exists and you can guarantee me that Smith is at the 2nd level then keep him at rb. I wouldn't want to tackle Smith if I were a safety. Ouch.


The Answer:

Keep smith as a hybrid (50/50). Focus on Higdon, Isaac, Johnson and the new guys. UM needs more speed at tailback.

He definitely needs to get some time @ FB. In this offense he will still get carries so it's not that big a deal.

Smith is going to evolve to become the 21st century Leroy Hoard. His famous quote I believe was "coach if you need a yard I will get you 3, if you need 5 yards I will get you 3". Smith is perfect for about 6-7 short down and distance carries in my opinion

Smith is a hard runner...but doesn't have Leroy talent.

I think I would change the line for Deveon to...if you need a yard...I will get you a yard but you better get me some good blocking.

DeVeon just embrace going to fb. He would be able to make a living in the Pro's. Might as well develop now.
