Heard a really interesting take from a former coach on satellite radio. Basically said that amongst coaches, year 3 at a new gig is often when you have to suck it up. Why? Because the senior leadership on the team were almost always recruited when the former coach was on the downslope of his career/hot seat. And that is exacerbated by the fact that chances are your 1st recruiting class wasn't great because you were new to the game.
I had never heard that before. But it makes a lot of sense, and why there is such a stark youth movement this year on this team and a large part of what we are seeing play out today. And then couple with that losing key guys like Speight and Black, a couple of questionable coaches and an OL that is subpar for a number of reasons - it really does make sense and bodes for a brighter future.
