The #3 Michigan Wolverines defeated two opponents this weekend on the mat:
  • 37-3 over the Indiana Hoosiers on Friday, 2/11
  • 24-13 over #15 in-state rival Michigan State Spartans
I'll keep it short and sweet, posting the full meet-by-meet results, then will add a few commentary points on matches worth talking about.

Hwt -- #3 Mason Parris (U-M) pinned Jacob Bullock, 2:25 -- U-M, 37-3

Notes
  • Ragusin with a solid win over Hudkins. Looked sharp with a shuck in the first to get up early, and added riding time throughout the bout. Always enjoy watching Ragusin wrestle.
  • Nice to have Storr back in the lineup. He was a bit sloppy, but that's to be expected coming back from injury.
  • I always want Lewan to do more. A very sound wrestler, but man, feel like his hesitancy to score really puts a hard cap at how good he could be.
  • Massa & Amine just rounding into form nicely this year.
  • Brucki with a bit of a scare. Nice job gutting it out in a scramble situation in SV, though.

#3 Michigan 24 - 13 #15 Michigan State

125 -- #1 Nick Suriano (U-M) major dec. Tristan Lujan, 14-3 -- U-M, 4-0
133 -- #11 Rayvon Foley (MSU) dec. #7 Dylan Ragusin, 7-2 -- U-M, 4-3
141 -- #17 Stevan Micic (U-M) dec. Matt Santos, 10-3 -- U-M, 7-3
149 -- #22 Kanen Storr (U-M) dec. Peyton Omania, 5-2 -- U-M, 10-3
157 -- #9 Will Lewan (U-M) dec. #17 Chase Saldate, 3-2 -- U-M, 13-3
165 -- #14 Cameron Amine (U-M) dec. Caleb Fish, 5-1 -- U-M, 16-3
174 -- #5 Logan Massa (U-M) tech. fall Nathan Jimenez, 17-1 (4:11) -- U-M, 21-3
184 -- #2 Myles Amine (U-M) dec. #19 Layne Malczewski, 8-4 -- U-M, 24-3
197 -- #7 Cameron Caffey (MSU) major dec. Bobby Striggow, 16-7 -- U-M, 24-7
Hwt -- Brad Wilton (MSU) pinned Zachery Nemec, 1:34 -- U-M, 24-13

Notes
  • Ragusin wrestled well. Great defense at end of the first period to maintain the early lead. Really close review on a takedown for Foley ended up being a big deal. Hoping he can bounce back, but Foley's legit.
  • Nice to see Micic put up another double digit performance, hoping he can round into form, here.
  • Lewan with a nice win against Saldate. Close, as always, with him.
  • Would have liked to see Caffey vs. Brucki, but seems like Brucki may not be 100% based on the Indiana match, as well.
  • Happy to see some guys get time on senior night. Glad that Striggow and Nemec got to go out there
