Michigan fifth-year senior 197-pounder Jackson Striggow was just announced as having been granted an at-large bid for the NCAA Championships, which means the Wolverines will have seven in action at nationals.
He'll join 125 Jack Medley, 149 Kanen Storr, 157 Will Lewan, 165 Tyler Meisinger, 184 Jelani Embree and heavyweight Mason Parris on the big stage in Minneapolis March 19-21. Those six earned automatic-qualifying bids with how high they placed at Big Tens.
Parris is the likely No. 2 national seed and probably the only guy in the country with a chance at beating Minnesota's Gable Steveson. Storr got pulled out of an Olympic redshirt late and was two wins away form All-America honors last year at 141, while Lewan and Embree have chances to make noise at their first NCAAs. Medley has been up and down as well but has some nice wins on his resume.
Next year is going to be the year to really watch Michigan wrestling, when they return all of the guys lsited above outside of Striggow and return Logan Massa, Stevan Micic and Myles Amine from Olympic redshirt. All three could be national title contenders.
