Jim is going to need about 80 game balls to hand out after this. My *guess* was that we had some offensive ideas up our sleeves, but man that was an unreal game. Just some rambling thoughts from someone who is on an emotional high - would love to hear you add something as well.
1) First and foremost, credit to this entire staff. What a job in all facets.
2) On offense, they've struggled at times attacking what the defense is giving them. Knowles came out and sold out to stop the run, thinking we didn't have a counter to that. It took some time, but man did we adjust. More than any other game this season, our offensive staff called plays to help JJ, and to utilize his skill set. The last 3 quarters were just a thing of beauty. We finally abandoned the first down run, and started attacking. We took what was there (the passing game), and used that to then open up the run game. The final 3 quarters were just majestic.
3) Our offense become completely unpredictable, which totally exposed Jim Knowles. On the defensive said, holy shit. If you would've told me we would get no pressure essentially all game I would have told you we were toast. I thought pressuring Stroud was the #1 key in this game. Jesse Minter, take a bow. And the secondary? My word. Mikey, Will Johnson, DJ, Gemon, Rod Moore, Paige, etc etc. A performance for the ages.
4) It's amazing how similar this was to 2021 OSU. Come out and score on our first 2nd half drive, and just dominate.
5) JJ McCarthy, folks. We finally saw the combination of elite play calling and elite play making from JJ. He's missed some deep shots as we all know. The staff has been underwhelming in our schemes and play calling IMO, not putting him in the best position to excel. That all changed today. Elite play calling met elite execution, and my goodness was it glorious.
6) Donovan Edwards - wow! He cleraly had to adjust to carrying the ball exclusively in his left hand. That home run potential was huge for us in the 2nd half.
7) Mike Sainristil - are you kidding me, dude? He goes from WR last year, to being an absolute blanket in coverage this year. He was unreal. The pass breakup on Stover was incredible. That was an elite *NFL* level throw by Stroud, yet Mikey still gets there. He rose up my list of favorite 2022 Wolverines in a big way today. Hats off for a performance that will be remembered for a long, long time.
8) Lastly, this win has major implications. Wow! One of the most satisfying Michigan football wins in my 38 years.
GO BLUE, folks. Enjoy your day.
