What a great event I took my kids to yesterday! Started off the day by having my kids meet Spike, Caris and Zach. All 3 of them couldn't have more impressive with how they dealt and interacted with the kids. All 3 were just all class.
Walking around before the game my daughter was picked to do the Arby's hat game on the big screen. She is only a first grader, but with a little help she picked the right hat.
Behind one of the baskets in the second half my 3 boys went over and met Doyle, Dawkins, Chatman and Rahkman (sp.?). All four took time to talk to them and my boys just ate up the attention.
About 5 minutes later Coach Beilein sat over by the players with his wife, and of course my boys went running back over to say hello to the coach. Coach Beilein invited my kids over to watch the rest of the game with him. The rest of the second half he talked strategy with my boys with what was happening in the girls game. Just unbelievable that he would take the time to give them a memory that will never be forgotten
I sat at center court and watched my kids just have a ball....and the girls had a nice 10 point win on top of everything else.
I have coached a lot of basketball (no higher than varsity) and Beilein is just simply one of the best in the game. His attention to detail and his teaching ability is just a joy to watch.
