i think that officially marks the two week shakeup we are going to see in this class. On Mgoblog's podcast the recruiting analyst went through a dozen high quality recruits UM is still in on. That's a lot of players for just five-six slots left, makes me think we see attrition and lots of new additions

I think maybe the evaluation process needs some tweaking. There are not that many coaching staff involved de-commits in most other programs. This could be a problem with accepting the word of U of M coaches in the future.

Swensen a 4 star decommitted on his own volition, I think Valmonte was the same, I don't know about Sir Scott...that hardly seems like an ethical crisis

It's what happens at big time college football programs.mits not the best thing in the world but it is a reality. It does make me laugh though when a program that isn't faced with the issue of potentially brining in a big time prospect when they have limited space state that their coaches and program wouldn't ever do something like pulling or talking a player out of a scholarship.

Then when they do get into that situation and either pull or talk a player out of a scholarship, say that when they do it it's different... Less wrong.

It's a general observation because Harbaugh hasn't done or been accused of anything wrong, but what is the difference between a HS kid getting a better offer late and going elsewhere and a school getting a better player late that bumps a player out? The "word" of coaches is supposed to mean more than the "word" of players' and parents'? People change their minds before they sign on and that's okay.

Wrong sec does it all the time. Want to compete? There is no loyalty from the recruit.

This is what one person self-stated in the know said on mgoblog about why one player decommitted from UM:

"He said the coaches meticulously laid out who his competition would be, and explained to him that they weren't done recruiting the position yet. Harbaugh also told him that his scholarship to one of the best academic institutes was absolutely still available to him, but he would need to work his ass off to see any playing time. Said recruit has decided that while academics are important, playing football is his true passion and wants to see the field sooner than later. He would rather fine tune his game on the field and get better."

Recruiting is fluid, why is it only wrong when a school grows cold on a prospect but not when a prospect grows cold on a school?
I don't have a problem with what Harbaugh is doing. He is trying to build a winning program and Swenson was a Hoke recruit. I don't believe Swenson grew cold on Michigan. He has wanted to play for Michigan since he was five. What I do believe is if Harbaugh continues this trend over the next couple of years, he is going to have a difficult time getting early commits. We will see how this plays out. Swenson should have known when he wasn't invited on an official visit, something was fishy.

Do you guys see Kiante Enis also making a switch?

Lets assume JH pulled the scholarship. I dont believe he did, I think he said the cold, hard facts that he is still recruiting for the position, and it is going to be hard to get time.

Going under that assumption, JH does not have a problem with future recruits. He never offered this kid someone else did. He pulled an offer that someone else gave. That is far different than him offering, and then pulling his own offer. That would not be a good situation.

I don't have a problem with what Harbaugh and his staff did to the kid. Only problem I have is why not encourage him to explore other options a few months ago? He was a Hoke recruit not a Harbaugh recruit. Now at the 11th hour he has to scramble to explore options.

Yep, you don't know what happened do you. Me neither. Kind of like going back to HS and hearing one side of the breakup of a romance.

You were obviously on to something, does IU have some interest?

Yes, he visited IU in December and I knew there was an in home visit with his coach and the potential he could be asked to look elsewhere. As a Colts fan I love "Captain Comeback" but it is troubling to see him pull offers from committed players, especially when he made the original offer. I am sure at the end of the day, Michigan football will reclaim their mojo on the field and this will all be long forgotten.

You're over reacting, I think, to movement that occurs in recruiting. These are not uneven commitments, from a college toward athletes no matter what and students toward colleges for as long as they choose. That's a fantasy world, no school would say no matter what we will never change our commitment just like no student does (and that's why we have so much movement, all the time, and why commitments are meaningless until the ink dries).
