Some people bring up Peters all the time. Some people are exhausted with hearing the clamoring for/about Peters.
Let me bridge the gap for both sides in hopes we can stop talking about it.
Factual Evidence:
The offense is bad. The QB play is the worst part of a bad offense. The bad offense has/will cost us games. It drives us all nuts. It's frustrating to watch. Most of us are dumbfounded that the offense and QB play can be this awful.
I want Peters!!!
When the QB play is the weak link, most look for what other options we have to improve it. Speight and O'Korn aren't the answer. The options are limited to Malzone, Peters and D-Caff. D-Caff is destined for a red-shirt so we remove him from the equation. Nothing has been heard to generate excitement about Malzone. The only evidence that the overall population has about Peters are 1) he was highly recruited, 2) we heard good things about him early, and 3) he looked good in the Spring game. The only negative things that are out there about Peters are rumors that he is "not ready."
With this foundation, most people in the "I want Peters" camp simply can't understand why Peters isn't given a chance. "He can't be worse!" "They took forever swapping out Ulizio and playing Higdon. They aren't evaluating talent well!" "He might be a game performer!" The bottom line is this: The ambiguity with the negative rumors about Peters simply aren't enough to squash the hope created by the positive evidence I listed above.
Stop talking about Peters!!!
This group believes (or in some cases knows) two main things: 1) The rumors about Peters are legit and, if details were revealed, would quell most of the desire to see Peters on the field. 2) The coaching staff aren't idiots, see the QBs every single day, and if they felt they could get more out of Peters, they would play him.
It's unfortunate that more information about what's creating the rumors about Peters aren't shared within the Fort. I suspect that it's a respect for the young man's privacy. Regardless, you don't see the Insiders calling for Peters. That's a concern for the "I want Peters" camp.
Hopefully this post will stop those in the opposing camps from looking at each other like this:
