I was in graduate school at Michigan State in the 70's with a guy who punted for UM in the mid 60's. He claimed he held the record for the longest punt. A back of the end zone kick that bounced almost the length of the field and was downed near opps. goal line.
I won't mention his name here in case he was blowin' smoke and don't want to embarrass anybody.
He did play and punt for Michigan however. Nice guy. Even though his adult career was due to his MSU degree. He always bled Maize and Blue.

I can't find the record. Who holds it? When was it kicked? How far?

Obviously not the same guy, but all I could find. Also checked the top rated punters in Michigan Football history, and nobody from the 60's was listed (they listed the top 11 all time punters).
I just checked my friend's Linkedin account and yes, he was a scholarship player at UM in the 60's. I know he was there before Bo. I won't name him. No need to.
Very, very nice guy. I haven't had contact with him in 30 yrs. Maybe I heard his recollection wrong, as well. He punted. That's all I know for sure. And by his own admission, he did not live up to his or his coaches expectations. He was a fun loving guy and I suspect he had just too much of it. It was the 60's.
