The moralizing, hand-wringing, I haven't heard so many damn sob stories about suffering children since the Syrian ISIS crisis. I think we should simply rename Harbaugh, Genghis Jim (pronounced Jenjis like John Kerry used to), and bring him up for charges at an tribunal in the Hague. At least we could be done with our moral bromides here.

Or maybe we could just go in another direction, because, dollars to donuts Erik Swenson and all the other victims of Genghis Jim's recruiting raping and pillaging will end up in a fine situation, with a fine opportunity to get an education and maul defensive linemen to his 300 lb heart's delight. Could the Captains of and PhDs in Recruiting just slow down their thesis writing, take a breath, let UM address the situation when it can, after the scorched earth recruitment season is done, and let things play out? The childrens will be alright, despite the savagery of Genghis Jim.

I don't think it will ever go away. This is a pattern that started when Harbaugh was at Stanford, and will continue.

Perhaps, you will end up winning on the field. But, your place in my mind will be forever tarnished. The respect I held for your program prior to Harbaugh coming aboard, win or lose, is gone. You have become Ohio State. Not that any of you care, I reckon. But, I suspect some of you know what I'm talking about.

Maybe for many of you, tired of the losses and remembering a better time of dominance on the football field, becoming like Ohio State is welcome (if you can get past the Ohio State reference) given the relative success the Bucks have had on the field.

But, I sincerely thought Michigan was not just about winning, but winning in the right way. Not stooping to the SEC and Ohio State tactics simply to win at all costs.

I'm sure I'll invite plenty of 38-0 and bowl performance jabs, but this doesn't change the truth. What happened to Swenson isn't what I though UM was all about. I guess I was just naïve. And though I believe there are some older UM fans and alums who know what I'm talking about, I guess many of you won't know at all where I'm coming from, when I say I would rather lose on the field than win at the cost of our integrity and soul. Of course, I would prefer to win, and win by doing things right. Thought that was what Michigan was all about, and what set you apart from Ohio State. I guess I was wrong.

That's great. Because your opinion means so much to everybody. Don't get us started on the opinion of Northwestern...

EvanstonCat needs to get a life! Perhaps EvanstonCat and Greenstien are the same person? They are so far up each others a** while continuing to only tell one side of the story. Idiotic!

The days of entitlement ended when JH came to AA and that goes for players that think they belong in a Michigan uniform because they committed in 10th grade. He was not good enough to play at UM end of story. I wonder if Saban would have Honored a kid who committed to Shula? Sure he would have correct? Alabama was so good under Shula

it amazes me how the "foreigners" have formed valuable opinions on 50% of a story concerned about UMs ethics, etc. It wasn't long ago that UM was branded snake oil salespeople for stealing a (good) Purdue recruit. As you may recall the Purder foreigners flooded this site with morale and ethical arguments about how low UM has stooped.

Falconer and Swensen were both offered academic scholarships and the opportunity to "walk on" to the program and this is an ethical breech? God , I wish I was afforded the same punishment.

I spent 14 years in daily newspapers and I'd be on the streets for reporting any story with only 50% of the evidence. You always give the "other side" an opportunity. If rules or whatever prevent comment than that's always noted in the story, usually the 2nd paragraph.

JH is such fodder that whatever he does gets reported. Climbing a tree was to get an errant football, not to show manliness. But you get the picture.

No one is saying Harbaugh should have honored a commitment made to another coach. The problem is that if Harbaugh did not want Hoke's recruit, he should have told him then. Not try to rerecruit him and celebrate when he reaffirmed. If he thought he should have come to camp and be reevaluated, then he should have pulled the offer when (and if - because I think that story is bull) he refused. If he thought the kid loafed (which is another BS story) then he should have pulled the offer after senior season. Not sent a coach to his home and tell him to get ready to play for UM. And not wait until 3 weeks before signing date (and a week before the OT he liked better from UVA committed) to pull his scholarship offer.

What is this bull about Swenson being offered an academic scholarship? You forget that NU is in Swenson's backyard, and we have people who are inside to Downers Grove South saying this is a complete lie! Stop making crap up.

BTW, I have no issue with what was done with Falcon. But, this job on Swenson is complete BS.

Well, if this Swenson stuff is such "complete BS" then why are you here on a UM board discussing it nonstop instead of on your own board celebrating potentially stealing a future star from under Harbaugh's nose. How does Harbaugh's & UM's recruiting practices involve your NW program other than to provide your exceptionally ethical program & coaching staff with recruits who loaf & don't have a chance to ever see the field at UM? Go home, Moron!

Go Blue!

You really need to get some perspective on life. How old are you? I can't believe how damn important you think this is.

At any rate, nobody here cares if you think this makes everybody at UM and the whole state of Michigan worse than Hitler. You're just a drama queen and picking a pretty insignificant thing to get so worked up about.

One does wonder how

Well, I guess this means "bye" to you as a fan from a distance, shoot.

I thought Falcon was offered a medical DQ scholarship? If that is the case, he couldn't walk on. He could never play at Michigan.

And as for offering Swenson an academic scholarship and the opportunity to walk on, I'm not sure the NCAA allows that. The potential for abuse would be too great.
