I've been passionate about Michgan Football since 1969 when Woody took his so called "team of the century" to Ann Arbor only to get his ass kicked by his former pupil. I hate to admit, however, that it is getting increasingly difficult to care any more. It seems like everything this university has done for the past decade plus and is still doing as it relates to football is totally screwed up. Why can't a decision be made as to who is going to coach this team going forward?? Either retain Harbaugh or send him on his way . . . what is so damned difficult about that??? I have to imagine that once again Michigan is a laughing stock in the world of college football. The rest of the athletic department is as good as it gets with great coaches and great programs all over the place. Think back to last Spring when John Beilein abruptly quit at what was thought to be the worst possible time. No problem . . Warde Manual acted swiftly and decisively and hired a replacement . . one who was heavily scrutinized by those who are supposedly "in the know". Here we are, a year and a half later and the Michigan basketball program is thriving. Granted, the sample size is small but there is no doubt that Coach Howard can recruit and the future looks extremely bright. But, for whatever reason, when it comes to football the same approach can't be taken. What was once a model of consistency with a foundation so deep that it was the envy of every athletic director in the land has become the antithesis of what it once was. With each passing day with a decision on the future of this program not being made it becomes more and more apparent that we are in for more of the same for the next several years. What a sad state of affairs.
