Q&A on crime and punishment, bending the rules and the general state of the "almost there" syndrome that keeps breaking our hearts. And in the end the moral question.
So lets discuss.
Does JH need to sell out the University and pay players to win recruiting NCs and turn that into football NCs?
Works for Coach K, Tressell, Calipari, Saban, Urban and a host of other coaches that would make us throw up if hired to coach at Michigan.
Ask compliance and admissions to look the other way so less than qualified mega talented high school and JC football players can enroll?
I am sure there are a slew of tremendous football players Michigan can not recruit because of thIs. I am sure some of them wouldn't mind playing school at Michigan. Unfortunately, the elite schools are willing to (no proof). Michigan, as all the fans know, is always playing the "game" with hands tied.
Should Michigan oversign every single recruiting class in order to process dead weight?
It has already started. I think you need to have 25 man classes every year. Spring and bowl practices are try outs to see who stays and goes. If you play the dirty game that is recruiting the turnover will lead to better football teams.
Cancel the big time OOC matchups vs ND and such?
We would be 11-1 if we played Arkansas and ND would have an atrocious playoff resume. SEC teams know a W versus Citadel doesn't hurt them. So why make it harder to get to the playoffs? I think yesterdays ass-kicking would have knocked us out of the playoffs if we were undefeated. However, a close loss yesterday would have kept us in the discussion.
Juice the players?
Don't want to go there.
Plunge head first into modern college football offense and leave the past where it belongs... In the past?
I do not care for this Michigan offense. I also see the logic behind it. We go all crazy with the passing game yesterday and we give up a lot more points. Like a 76-53 loss looks any better than 62-39. 76 may actually be generous. Tell me on Friday night that Michigan is gonna score 39 points I would have looked for playoff tickets... Yesterday was on the D.
Many many many more Q's that need A's but I think about this question a lot.
In the end I wonder if Michigan football would be worth following if I knew it comprimised it's tradition and integrity in order to win championships.
