Got off the phone with one of our program sources and was able to get a better sense of what things are looking like with Joey Baker's pursuit of another year of eligibility with the program.
I walked away from the conversation feeling like it's not going to be a slam dunk that he gets that extra year of eligibility. It is my OPINION that he won't and hopes are not high right now. I am told it's a bit of an uphill climb to get over the finish line. It's not a Michigan issue, it's not a Duke issue, either. I can't say much more than that as I will be violating trust.
As for what this means scholarship-wise, it means that a scholarship won't be earmarked for Baker moving forward if/when the official turndown of the waiver from the NCAA occurs.
I'll have more when I can get it.
