He was likely checking something off of his to-do list. My guess is the task was "don't get shut out"that brought the game from within fours scores to....within four scores at 28-3?
its defiantly frustrating watching that but acording to the chart that may of been the right call in that instance. you guys put a good game on us but James Franklin at least still isnt their yet i personaly thought he needs 7-8 years to get his guys at least that give him some time for guys to heal and gets some experience and he can finaly open up the play book. well see you again next year well win in our house

I know there's a 2 point conversion chart but noway there's chart telling coaches when to kick a fieldgoal instead of going for a first down. If there is and coaches follow them then i question their ability to make decisions.
In defense of Franklin. He is trying to rebuild the PSU program. It wasn't like O'Brien was setting the world on fire. I do think some fans of rival schools are a little too harsh on him and it isn't like he isn't doing some decent things on the recruiting trail.
That being said it looks like he isn't the guy who is going to lead PSU to greater heights but BT football purgatory.

The UM post says that Franklin was complaining about negative recruiting by certain BT schools but in actuality it was Franklin himself who was negatively recruiting. Something about him telling a recruit that so and so wasn't going to be at 'x' school. Something like that. Franklin also had to backtrack on his comments.
I found that disappointing. Is this true/false?

Coach James Franklin said their is and he does use a feild goal chart. He has discussed it before and I trust him with it. Though not on saturdays game
Wow there is a field goal chart. Franklin inherited a tough situation but much like hoke he is not the man for the job.
He IS the man for the job just needs 7-8 years. The sanctions hurt and their are still many issues with the sanctions. And our injurys and the fact that we havent been able to go out their and open up the play book. the odds are against us so its not going to be easy and delany doesnt even want us in the confrence.
I would actually be surprised if Michigan doesn't win by at least two scores next year in happy valley. Not only does Michigan have the superior talent (and will continue to do so despite graduations and players leaving after this year), but they have a far better coach. Not even sure Franklin will be the coach by the game, give that he is currently winless against the "Big 3" and will likely be winless against them again next year (if he is back).
if were healthy next year we can win it. trace-quon is back next year and we will score points. their are a lot of things that went in to the game this season that wont hurt us next year. were at home so no bullcrap penalties and well have all our guys and CJF will have another year with trace to open up the play book. im not saying its garenteed victory but we should win that game at home
Haha. You can keep telling yourself that. We know what type of coach Franklin is and, quite frankly, even having a lot of players back doesn't mean much when you have him coaching the squad. Agree with the previous poster...would be surprised if the game was within 2 scores.
